AAU joined more than 80 top businesses and organizations in calling on Congress to take legislative action and protect recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. In a letter to congressional leaders, the Coalition for the American Dream noted that businesses, already suffering from workforce challenges, would “face another crisis if Congress fails to act on an issue that has strong bipartisan support from the American people.”

On Wednesday, the Task Force on American Innovation (an alliance of industry, professional societies, and university organizations, including AAU) sent a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda D. Young urging them to increase investments in the Department of Energy Office of Science in FY24.

The Coalition for National Security Research, which includes AAU and other organizations, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin urging an increase in FY24 over the FY23 funding levels for defense science and technology (S&T) programs, including the defense basic research programs.

The Energy Sciences Coalition, of which AAU is a member, sent a letter urging House and Senate leaders of the appropriations subcommittees on energy and water to appropriate at least $8.1 billion for the DOE Office of Science in FY23.

AAU and APLU sent a letter to Office of Management and Budget Director Shalanda Young urging continued robust support in the administration’s FY24 budget for higher education and scientific research investments that are crucial to the health, security, prosperity, and future of our nation.

AAU joined other businesses and organizations in sending a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and OMB Director Shalanda Young urging them to include $31.5 million in the DOE's FY24 budget to launch and fund the DOE Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation.

AAU joined ACE and other higher education associations in submitting joint comments in response to the Dept. of Education’s proposed changes to Title IX regulations.
