AAU, Associations Send Letter in Support of the Student Veteran Emergency Relief Act

AAU joined ACE and 10 other higher education organizations in a letter to the leadership of the House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committees in support of H.R. 7939, the Student Veteran Emergency Relief Act. The legislation was passed by the House earlier this year, and the letter urges the committees to push the bill through to final passage before the end of 2022. The Student Veteran Emergency Relief Act provides a number of important provisions for veterans, including “flexibilities provided to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) during the COVID-19 pandemic,” “allow[ing] veterans to use their GI bill benefits to participate in a wider number of study abroad programs,” and “a critical technical correction to provide relief to colleges and universities with flat tuition and fee structures from unnecessary and burdensome enrollment verification processes.”
