Without student loans many of our nation’s undergraduate and graduate students would be unable to pursue a higher education, inhibiting our nation’s innovation and technological advances. However, thanks to student loans, more students can graduate with a college degree and improve both their quality of life as well as that of future generations. AAU joined ACE in sending a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona urging him to extend the Public Service Loan Forgiveness waiver that expires on October 31.

AAU joined six other higher education associations in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona requesting clear and comprehensive information on the department’s plans to resume student loan repayments on February 1, 2022.
AAU and 19 other associations wrote to the Education Department to comment on the proposed final rule on borrower defenses to repayment. The letter outlines several concerns and says that as drafted, the proposed rule “would make asserting a successful claim functionally impossible.”
