Education has never been as important to America’s economic health as it is now. Without student loans many of our nation’s undergraduate and graduate students would be unable to pursue a higher education, inhibiting our nation’s innovation and technological advances. However, thanks to student loans, more students can graduate with a college degree and improve both their quality of life as well as that of future generations. Below is a set of materials related to student loan issues of interest to AAU institutions.

AAU joined ACE and 28 other higher education associations in sending a comment letter on the Education Department’s proposed changes to the Revised Pay as You Earn or REPAYE income-driven repayment (IDR) plan.

AAU joined ACE in sending a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona urging him to extend the Public Service Loan Forgiveness waiver that expires on October 31.

AAU and 19 other associations wrote to the Education Department to comment on the proposed final rule on borrower defenses to repayment. The letter outlines several concerns and says that as drafted, the proposed rule “would make asserting a successful claim functionally impossible.”
