The Coalition for National Science Funding wrote to Congress urging members to appropriate $8.45 billion in FY 2019 for the National Science Foundation.
The House Subcommittees on Oversight and Research and Technology of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology held an April 11 hearing titled, “Scholars or Spies: Foreign Plots Targeting America’s Research and Development.” The hearing explored the exploitation of research and development activities at academic institutions by foreign nations.
The Student Aid Alliance has amended their FY19 funding requests for House and Senate appropriations leaders.
The Energy Sciences Coalition, of which AAU is a member, wrote to Congress urging members to appropriate $6.6 billion in FY 2019 for the Department of Energy Office of Science. 
AAU joined ACE and over three dozen higher education organizations in a letter to party leadership thanking them for "the commitment to student aid and scientific research in the Fiscal Year 2018 Consolidated Appropriations Act."
