The Agriculture Food and Research Initiative Coalition, which includes AAU, sent a letter to House and Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Leaders requesting they provide at least $600 million for AFRI in FY22 appropriations.
AAU joined 16 other organizations on a letter to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services urging the agency quickly to implement provisions of the “Emergency Stopgap USCIS Stabilization Act” included in H.R. 8337, the “Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021 and Other Extensions Act.”
AAU joined ACE and 56 other higher education associations on letters to House and Senate leaders to express their strong support for H.R. 1319, the “American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.”
The Coalition for the American Dream, which includes AAU, sent a letter to Senate leader urging them to quickly advance the bipartisan S. 264, “Dream Act of 2021.”
AAU joined ACE and 50 other higher education organizations in writing to Senate leadership in support of S.264 the Dream Act of 2021.
AAU joined ACE and 33 other higher education organizations on a letter to Education Secretary-designate Miguel Cardona to request the department provide critical guidance about emergency COVID-19 relief funding provided in the first and second Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.
AAU joined ACE and 18 other organizations to send a letter to acting Education Secretary Philip Rosenfelt to request a meeting to discuss the requirements for foreign gift and contract reporting under Section 117 of the Higher Education Act.
"AAU, along with the American Council on Education, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, and the Council on Governmental Relations, submitted this memorandum to the Office of Science and Technology Policy, requesting a comment period for stakeholders to review the “Presidential Memorandum on United States Government-Supported Research and Development National Security Policy (NSPM-33)” and “Recommended Practices for Strengthening the Security and Integrity of America’s Science and Technology Research Enterprise."
The Friends of Institute of Education Sciences, which includes AAU, recently sent a letter to House and Senate leaders urging them to include $200 million for the institute in the next COVID-19 relief package.
AAU joined ACE, and 20 other higher education organizations on a letter to House Education Committee Chair Bobby Scott (D-VA) and Ranking Member Virginia Foxx (R-NC) to offer support for $40 billion in emergency relief included in its FY21 budget reconciliation bill.
