Blank, Mailick: Strengthen the Government-Science Partnership

"Basic science is at the heart of human knowledge. If America wants to maintain its innovative edge, create meaningful jobs and realize economic growth, then we must make funding for basic science a national and state priority," according to Rebecca Blank, chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Marsha Mailick, vice chancellor for research and graduate education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Writing for the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, the authors also said, "While we do not know what the next 20 years of discoveries will bring, we do know that without strong and consistent state and federal funding for research, these discoveries may not be made at universities in the United States."
