AAU submitted comments in response to the NSTC Joint Committee on the Research Environment’s recent request for information seeking input that the administration can use to “maximize the quality and effectiveness of the American research environment.
AAU joined five other higher education institutions in sending a letter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren to thank her for reintroducing the bipartisan Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education Act.
AAU sent a letter to OIRA Acting Administrator Paul Ray expressing concern regarding the Department of Education's request for emergency review of the new proposed ICR on Foreign Gifts and Contracts Disclosures published on December 17, 2019. 
AAU joined 17 other higher education organizations on a letter to House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committee leaders to pass legislation to address issues in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including the “kiddie,” parking, and endowment taxes, and to extend the above-the-line deduction for qualified tuition and related expenses.
AAU, together with ACE, APLU, and 39 other organizations sent a letter to House leaders to urge them to support H.R. 5365, the “FUTURE Act.”
AAU sent a letter to Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs for the State Department Marie Royce regarding the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program and the improvements to visa-processing.  
AAU, COGR, APLU, and AAMC letter to OSTP and NSTC staff requesting a 30-day extension to the 30-day comment period for the Request for Information on the American Research Environment.

AAU, along with ACE, APLU, and eight other higher education organizations sent a letter expressing their strong support for the amended H.R.

AAU joined 161 other organizations on a letter to congressional leadership, encouraging the completion of the FY 2020 appropriations bills as soon as possible.
The Task Force on American Innovation, of which AAU is a member, recently sent a letter to House and Senate Appropriations Leaders thanking them for their efforts to advance the FY20 appropriations measures for Commerce-Justice-Science, Defense, and Energy-Water, and encouraging them to complete all 12 FY20 appropriations measures before the second continuing resolution runs out December 20.
