Letters

The Ag Research Caucus circulated a dear colleague letter asking Senate Leadership and Appropriators to fund AFRI at $460 million, consistent with the House-passed level. The letter is being led by Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), and Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA).
Fifty-two AAU members joined over 600 other colleges and universities on an institutional sign-on letter to House and Senate leadership for the second anniversary of DACA's cancellation, encouraging them to pass legislation to protect DACA recipients.
AAU, along with 80 other organizations, sent letters to Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and to Senate Agriculture and Appropriations Committee leadership expressing their support for the America Grows Act, legislation that would authorize a five percent annual funding increase over the next five years for USDA research – including AFRI research.
The Student Aid Alliance sent a letter to Senate Appropriations Committee leadership thanking them for their continued bipartisan support of federal student aid programs, and requesting the committee fund federal student aid programs at levels provided in the House-passed FY20 Labor-HHS-Ed.

The Coalition for National Security Research, of which AAU is a member, sent a letter to House and Senate Armed Services Committee leadership thanking them for their work on the FY20 National Defense Authorization Act.

AAU, together with 14 associations, sent a letter to USCIS acting director Ken Cuccinelli to request information regarding the USCIS decision on electronic registration for the fiscal year FY21 H-1B cap filing season and stakeholder engagement for the H-1B registration tool.
AAU and APLU sent a letter to OMB acting director Russell Vought urging his office to support increased federal funding for higher education and scientific research in the administration’s FY21 budget
AAU, COGR, EDUCAUSE, APLU, and ACE comment letter in response to NIST Request for Public Comment on SP 800-171B.
AAU, together with nine other higher education associations, submitted comments to the Federal Trade Commission regarding the agency’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, titled “Standards for Safeguarding Customer Information.” 

AAU, together with ACE, APLU, and 31 other higher education associations, sent a letter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Rep. Alfred Lawson Jr. (D-FL) to thank them for introducing S. 2143/H.R. 3809, the College Student Hunger Act of 2019.
