FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Following is a statement by Association of American Universities President Mary Sue Coleman
We are thrilled by the report that President-elect Trump has asked Francis Collins to continue to lead the National Institutes of Health in his Administration. AAU was among the organizations asking the President-elect to keep Dr. Collins as NIH director. He has been an extraordinarily thoughtful and dynamic leader, and now more than ever we need a leader of his caliber to manage key initiatives and maximize NIH's impact on science, discovery, and health. NIH is responsible for countless advances that have benefited the country and the world. Under Dr. Collins's continuing leadership, we can expect many more.
