Letter from DOD Secretary Expressing Concerns about Provisions in the House/Senate NDAA

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin sent a letter to Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Jack Reed (D-RI) highlighting certain provisions in the House-passed (H.R.8070) and Senate-proposed (S.4638) FY25 National Defense Authorization Act bills that would “substantially impact” the Department of Defense’s “ability to accomplish [its] strategic goals.”

The letter objected to some of the same provisions that AAU and APLU expressed concerns about in our letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees last week.
