Federal investments in student financial aid, faculty scholarship, and basic scientific research are vital to innovation, and our nation’s economic competitiveness and national security. AAU closely monitors and engages Congress and the Executive Branch in the annual federal budget and appropriations process to advocate for sustained and strong federal investments in: Pell Grants, Work-study, and other student financial aid programs; the research, STEM, and higher education programs at NIH, NSF, NASA, NEH, AFRI, and the Departments of Defense, Education, and Energy.
