The Association of American Universities and six other research and library associations sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) expressing support for current net neutrality rules.
The letter said the organizations "believe strongly that open and neutral access to the Internet is essential to our nation's freedom of speech, educational achievement, and economic growth."
"The Internet serves as the primary, open platform for information exchange, intellectual discourse, civic engagement, creativity, research, innovation, teaching, and learning in our communities and the nation."
