AAU, Organizations Send Letter to Congressional Leadership Supporting NDAA Global Race for Talent Provisions

AAU led a group of 28 organizations on a letter to the House and Senate Armed Services and Judiciary Committees in support of two key provisions included in H.R. 6395, the House version of the FY21 National Defense Authorization Act: Section 1763 and 281. Section 1763 affirms that international students enrolled in online coursework can maintain their visa status for the duration of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Inspired by the National Security Innovation Pathway Act, Section 281 would establish a pathway to permanent residency for qualified individuals engaged in work to support the national security innovation base. These provisions, the letter says, are “unequivocally germane to the Defense Department’s workforce development capabilities to draw on a pipeline of top talent for employment or further training.”
