AAU joined APLU, COGR, AAMC, the Bayh-Dole Coalition, and AUTM in sending a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra asking him to reject a call made in a June 23, 2022, letter from a hundred members of Congress to use march-in rights, established under the 1980 Bayh-Dole Act, to control high drug prices. The association letter argues that march-in rights were never intended to be used to control prices, and that using them to do so would “significantly undermine university innovation and the benefits it delivers to the American people.” The Licensing Executives Society USA & Canada sent a letter earlier this week raising similar concerns.
