AAU, APLU, and COGR submitted comments in response to the Office of Science and Technology Policy’s recent request for information on “Public Access to Peer-Reviewed Scholarly Publications, Data and Code Resulting from Federally Funded Research.” The comments include suggestions on how to overcome barriers to public access to federally funded research results, including federal investments in human and technical infrastructure, and highlight the benefits of public access to research to America’s economic and scientific leadership and competitiveness. The comments also urge any new federal policy on public access to include an adequate implementation period for universities to adapt campus policies and practices.
