As Congress continues to work on economic stimulus legislation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, AAU asks that challenges faced by the U.S. scientific research workforce during this crisis are addressed. 
AAU joined a coalition of 256 employers and 67 associations in writing to the Trump Administration on the importance of OPT and H-1B visas among other nonimmigrant visa categories rumored to be under consideration for a new executive order on immigration.
The Coalition for National Security Research, which includes AAU, has created a document to outline priorities for Congress to consider as they work on infrastructure or economic stimulus legislation.
The Coalition for National Security Research, of which AAU is a member, sent a letter to Congress and the administration urging them to provide short- and long-term emergency supplemental appropriations to support the United States’ national security as the nation recovers from COVID-19.
AAU joined ACE and eight other associations in a letter to the Trump Administration regarding OPT and the importance of international students. 
AAU, APLU, AAMC, and COGR submitted joint comments to the EPA opposing the agency's proposed rule, Strengthening Transparency in Regulatory Science, and supplemental information (SNPRM).
AAU joined ACE and 29 other higher education organizations on a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) in support of H.R. 6800, the HEROES Act.
Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and Susan Brooks (R-IN) sent a bipartisan letter to House leaders urging them to provide relief for students and colleges and universities in upcoming COVID-19 response legislation.
AAU today joined ACE and 30 other higher education organizations on a letter to the House Education and Labor Committee and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee requesting technical changes to certain provisions in the CARES Act and other statues to “better align existing federal requirements with the needs of students and campuses.”
AAU joined ACE and 14 other higher education organizations on a letter to Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) to endorse the “American Opportunity Student Tax Relief Act,” bipartisan legislation recently introduced by Reps. Doggett and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).
