Accelerating Public Access to Research Data Conversation Series

Join AAU and APLU for a series of conversations with campuses that are advancing public access to research data. As a community, we will explore strategies that align with the recommendations in the Guide to Accelerate Public Access to Research Data.

The four-part series is open to the university and national leaders engaged in the APARD Initiative. Registration for upcoming events can be found on the right-hand side of this page, and the video archive of past events can be found below.

Building Capacity and Buy-in

Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 pm ET

In the third series, we will hear from campuses that are building capacity and support for research data stewardship and sharing. Campuses will share how they are educating researchers at all levels in good data stewardship practices. We will also highlight some examples of how campuses are incentivizing, recognizing, and rewarding researchers for excellent data stewardship.

Making Sure the Institution has the Resources and Infrastructure to Do it Right

Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 pm ET

In the second series, we will discuss how to support researchers with the infrastructure they need for data stewardship and that will also reduce researcher burden. We will highlight several campuses and the services that they provide. We will provide time to discuss how these services (and others from the community) were identified, how they built awareness with researchers, and how they are estimating costs and developing funding streams for these services.

Making Priorities Visible and Establishing a Plan

Wednesday, May 5, 2021

We will hear from campuses that have developed a research data stewardship implementation plan. Discover how these institutions formed cross-campus coordination teams and worked with their campus leadership. We will provide time for the community to ask questions about how these campuses got started and the lessons they learned.
