AAU joined 79 other organizations in resending a letter to House and Senate leaders of the appropriations subcommittees on energy and water to request a one-time appropriation of $31.5 million to establish the Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation at the Department of Energy. According to the letter, the foundation “would fill a critical gap in successfully transitioning new energy technologies into the market and meeting the nation’s energy security and climate goals.” The letter notes that FESI is included in both the Senate-passed U.S. Innovation and Competition Act and in the House-passed America Competes Act and will be included in the final innovation package Congress is currently negotiating. Its establishment is one of AAU’s conference priorities.
