AAU, Associations Urge Travel Flexibility for International Students and Scholars Without Ready Access to COVID-19 Vaccines

AAU joined ACE and 36 other higher education associations in sending a letter calling on the Biden administration to allow international students, scholars, and researchers from countries where the COVID-19 vaccine is not easily available, or where American and World Health Organization-approved vaccines are not widely available, to enter and be vaccinated in the United States upon arrival. The letter is in response to the administration’s recent announcement that current travel restrictions will be lifted in November and replaced with a new travel and entry policy that will require travelers to demonstrate that they have been fully vaccinated. The letter urges the administration to work with the higher education community to develop the policy and to grant travel flexibility to students and scholars so they can come to the United States for studies and research.
