Institutions possess a wealth of data on students and their performance that may be used to help understand and improve teaching and learning. New visualization tools can help reveal patterns in data and may be useful for driving discussion and decision-making at multiple levels within an institution. Visualizations can also be a mechanism for increasing access to data. Some data concerning student demographics, student performance, and retention/ progression/completion can be found in national data sets.
