The Coalition for National Security Research (CNSR), of which AAU is a member, sent an FY 2025 NDAA Conference Letter outlining coalition priorities to the Hill.
AAU submitted a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee members in preparation for their mark-up session, urging them to advance the PREVAIL Act, the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act, and the IDEA Act. 
AAU joined ACE and four other higher education associations to send a letter to House leaders in opposition to H.R. 3724, the End Woke Higher Education Act, emphasizing the removal of Title II from the legislation "as it would undermine efforts to protect free speech on campus and provide safe learning environments free from discrimination."

The letter outlines the need for soliciting feedback from the research community to ensure a strong research security review process.
AAU, APLU, AAMC, and COGR submitted comments in response to a Request for Information from the National Institutes of Health Draft Public Access Policy. The comments highlight the organizations’ support of the goal of “providing public access to scholarly publications resulting from NIH-funded research”.
AAU, COGR, and APLU submitted a joint response to the Department of Energy's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Conflict of Interest and Conflict of Commitment Policy Requirements. The comments outline the need for consistency with NSPM-33 and limiting unnecessary administrative burden.
The Section 127 Coalition, an alliance of more than 60 organizations, including AAU, submitted a letter in support for the Employer Participation in Repayment Act. The coalition believes that "enabling employers to invest in their employees by utilizing this voluntary benefit is essential to encourage workers to continue reskilling and upskilling themselves, especially at a time when the demands and skills in the modern workplace are rapidly evolving."
