AAU urges Congress to provide at least $6.53 billion for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in FY19.
For the U.S. to remain the global leader in space, the nation must continue to make robust investments in NASA’s Science Mission, Aeronautics, and Space Technology directorates. In addition to funding for the Science Mission Directorate, AAU recommends:
- $790 million for the Aeronautics Directorate. Past funding has led to advances in the safety, capacity, and efficiency of the air transportation systems that we use on a daily basis.
- $796 million for the Space Technology Directorate which funds over 600 awards have been made to small businesses, private innovators, and universities, sparking new technologies that benefit the nation’s aerospace and high-technology industries.
- $48 million for the Space Grant program that has enabled over 24,000 undergraduate and graduate students to receive scholarships, fellowships, and internships.
