Association of American Universities Statement on Goodlatte-Conyers Copyright Office Reform Proposals

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Following is a statement by the Association of American Universities on proposals issued today by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Ranking Democrat John Conyers (D-MI) for reform of the U.S. Copyright Office.

The Association of American Universities thanks House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Ranking Member John Conyers for their continuing interest in our nation’s copyright law and their ongoing efforts to ensure that the U.S. Copyright Office is equipped to function efficiently and effectively in a 21st century copyright system. We particularly appreciate their proposal to create advisory committees comprising stakeholders who represent a diversity of views and interests. We look forward to working with the committee as it addresses the copyright issues that are so important to both users and creators of content.
