AAU LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE ON UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AT ITS MEMBER INSTITUTIONS
AAU yesterday launched a new website that shares examples of the types of research being conducted by undergraduate students at AAU institutions. The new microsite, “Undergraduate Stories: Hands-on Research Makes a Difference,” highlights a variety of fields of study—from engineering to the humanities—and how students are engaging in and benefiting from their participation in research.
The website is introduced by a brief video, which features several undergraduates whose stories are included on the site. Those interested in sharing their own stories are asked to use the hashtags, #UndergradStories and #research.
In the accompanying press release, AAU President Hunter Rawlings said that conducting research helps undergraduates “develop the kind of nonlinear thinking skills that are important in academia and that the 21st century job market demands. That’s true regardless of the field of study or the eventual career path the student will pursue.”
President Rawlings added, “This is one way that research universities in general and AAU member institutions in particular are helping their students prepare for whatever opportunities and challenges they will face in an increasingly dynamic global economy.”
The association plans to expand the microsite with additional stories from its member campuses.
NEW AUTM WEBSITE EXPLAINS THE ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER IN SOCIETY AND THE ECONOMY
The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) has created a new website that aims to explain to policymakers, business leaders, the media, and the public the role of university technology transfer in improving society and strengthening the economy.
The new website includes stories and videos about university technology transfer, as well as briefing materials, data on technology transfer activities, and a new magazine, BRIDGES, which provides reports, analyses, and commentary.
