Senior Coordinator for Government Affairs and Public Policy
As the Senior Coordinator for Government Affairs and Public Policy, Nick assists in developing and advancing AAU federal relations priorities and strategies, helps track and coordinate AAU's activities with Congress and the Executive Branch, and supports targeted AAU advocacy campaigns. In conjunction with other AAU staff and the Council for Federal Relations (CFR), develops relationships with congressional and executive branch officials; arranges and coordinates Capitol Hill, White House and agency meetings, briefings, and events; and helps develop core messages and related materials to effectively convey AAU's government relations and public policy objectives.
Prior to joining AAU, Nick worked in the House of Representatives for Rep. Nikema Williams (D-GA) and Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) in several roles, including legislative director. During his time in Congress, Nick served as the staff lead on education, science, space, and technology, appropriations, child welfare, labor, immigration, and judiciary issues, among others. He was responsible for the enactment of critical support services for current and former foster youth during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and the inclusion of Rep. Langevin's STEM to STEAM Act as part of the CHIPS and Science Act.
Nick is a graduate of Brown University with degrees in public policy and economics.
