The Coalition for National Security Research, of which AAU is a member, sent a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Defense highlighting the coalition’s funding priorities for the FY22 budget. CNSR urged Congress to reject proposed cuts for the Defense Science and Technology program and to increase funding by at least 6% instead. CNSR also urged Congress to restore funding for defense basic research programs, which the proposed budget cuts by 14.5%. Condoning the proposed FY22 budget, the letter notes, “will have many negative, sustained implications for our national security in the short-term and long-term.”
