AAU President Mary Sue Coleman wrote to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee in response to the broad solicitation for comments on the Higher Education Act reauthorization.
She offered comments and recommendations on the following:
- College Affordability
- Access to Higher Education
- Financial Support for Graduate Students
- Consumer Information
- Student Progress and Degree Completion
- Accreditation
- Title VI/International Education Programs
- Promoting Innovation
- De-Regulation
“AAU is committed to the fundamental guiding principle that a student’s financial status should not be a barrier to higher education. At the same time, we believe that access should be coupled with completing a high-quality education program.," Coleman wrote.
