The following is a statement from the Association of American Universities President Barbara R. Snyder regarding the selection of Dr. Jay Bhattacharya to serve as President-elect Trump's director of the National Institutes of Health in the upcoming administration:
We congratulate Dr. Jay Bhattacharya on his selection by President-elect Trump to be director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the upcoming administration. We look forward to working with him to ensure that NIH continues to be the preeminent biomedical research engine in the world. It is in large part the medical and public health advances of scientists whose groundbreaking research is supported by NIH that have led to the longer, healthier, and more productive lives that we Americans take for granted today.
