AAU joined 75 other higher education associations in sending a letter urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to “preserve critical investments in college affordability and college completion in the final Build Back Better package.” By making college more affordable, investing in higher education, and supporting students at HBCUs, TCUs, HSIs, and other MSUs, the letter states, “lawmakers can advance a strong recovery, close longstanding racial and economic disparities in college access and degree attainment, and ultimately ensure long-term prosperity and competitiveness for the United States.”
