AAU, ACE, and 30 other higher education associations and organizations sent a letter to House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-TX) supporting the Labor-HHS-Education appropriations bill and urging committee members to also support the bill during markup.
The letter highlights several key provisions in the bill, including funding increases for Pell Grants, Federal Work Study, and other federal financial aid programs; enhancements in institutional assistance, particularly for Minority-Serving Institutions; increases in NIH funding, including for core NIH operations; and more. The bill under consideration, the letter notes, “will enhance the ability of all Americans, regardless of income level, to access and attain the education necessary to realize their goals, while enhancing the economic competitiveness, health, and safety of our country.”
