OSTP, NSF, AND DOE ANNOUNCE $1 BILLION FOR AI AND QIS RESEARCH INSTITUTES
The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, the NSF, and the Department of Energy on Wednesday announced they will put $1 billion toward the establishment of seven new NSF-led artificial intelligence research institutes and five Department of Energy-led quantum information science research institutes nationwide. The announcement builds on the administration’s stated commitment to double federal investments in research and development in these fields, as outlined in its report titled “Artificial Intelligence & Quantum Information Science R&D Summary” for FY20-21.
