The Task Force on American Innovation, of which AAU is a member, recently sent a letter to House and Senate Appropriations Leaders thanking them for their efforts to advance the FY20 appropriations measures for Commerce-Justice-Science, Defense, and Energy-Water, and encouraging them to complete all 12 FY20 appropriations measures before the second continuing resolution runs out December 20. In the letter, TFAI thanks the lawmakers for increasing investments for scientific and engineering research and development in the DOE Office of Science, NASA, ARPA-E, and NIST, but asks that they reconsider proposed cuts to DARPA. “Moving forward, we urge you commit to sustainable and robust funding for these agencies that strengthen America’s innovation ecosystem and America’s innovation leadership,” the letter says.
