Correction: In April 2025, AAU published an article based on Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) data issued by the Department of Homeland Security. The article described the data, which showed declines in the total number of international students in the United States between March 2024 and March 2025, as well as declines in the number of international students in doctoral programs.
DHS has since taken down that SEVIS data because of inaccuracies and replaced it with new data, which show steady year-over-year increases in the total number of international students in the United States. A corrected article based on the updated data is available here.
