AAU Institutions Top List of Fulbright Students and Scholars Producers

By Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe

Earlier this week, the State Department recognized higher education institutions in the United States that have produced the most Fulbright students and scholars. Sponsored by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student and Fulbright U.S. Scholar programs offer students and scholars in the United States the opportunity to study, teach, conduct research, or carry out other professional projects abroad.

The Ohio State University topped the list of doctoral institutions that produced the most Fulbright scholars for the second time in five years; 14 faculty members and researchers at the school were offered Fulbright awards for 2024-2025. “We are incredibly proud of all of our Fulbright recipients and applicants; they truly showcase the academic excellence of Ohio State students,” said Ola Ahlqvist, Ohio State’s associate vice provost of academic enrichment. Ohio State was followed by the Pennsylvania State University, the University of Florida, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison, each of which had 12 Fulbright scholars.

In addition, the top five doctoral institutions with the most Fulbright students this year were AAU members – Brown University, Georgetown University, Yale University, the University of Notre Dame, and Harvard University. The State Department also recognized 19 institutions as Fulbright Dual Top Producers, or institutions with the most Fulbright U.S. students and scholars. Twelve of those colleges were AAU members, including Arizona State University, the University of Southern California, the University of Michigan, and Purdue University.
