Institutions of Higher Education Submit Amicus Brief Supporting Harvard in Grant Freeze Case

Last week, 36 institutions of higher education, including AAU member institutions, submitted an amicus brief in support of Harvard and urging the 1st Circuit Court of Appeals to affirm the decision of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts that granted, in part, Harvard’s motion for summary judgment in its lawsuit against the Trump administration’s unlawful freeze of its federal funding. The brief details the historic partnership between the federal government and institutions of higher education that has made America a global leader and how arbitrary cuts like those in this case negatively impact our nation's economy and status in the world.
