AAU signed onto a letter sent by NACUBO to the IRS and Treasury commenting on the IRS guidance on the calculation of net investment income. The letter calls the guidance timely and helpful, as it appropriately recognizes past practice with the private foundation excise tax and provides a basis step up for colleges and universities. The letter further welcomes additional communication between the higher education community and the IRS and Treasury.
