Assistant Vice President for Meetings
Raquel Kulis has served at AAU since March 2014. As the Assistant Vice President for Meetings, she has primary responsibilities for all logistical planning and on-site management of the biannual AAU membership meeting and the Council on Federal Relations annual meeting. She directs all logistical aspects of other constituent group meetings, the CFR monthly meetings, and various other in-town meetings and events. She also coordinates the AAU Partners constituent group program and meetings.
Raquel has more than 10 years of industry knowledge, providing expertise and assistance in event planning and management, marketing, transportation, lodging, and client retention and recruitment.
Prior to joining AAU, Raquel served as Marketing Coordinator at the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council, a non-profit association that promotes business and trade between the two countries. In this capacity, Raquel organized and executed all of the Council’s programs including conferences, roundtables, and high-level networking events for foreign dignitaries and top executives both in the U.S. and in Saudi Arabia.
Her responsibilities included negotiating contracts with hotels, service providers and other vendors, in addition to ensuring compliance with association, federal, and funder project guidelines. She drafted budget proposals, including revenue-generating efforts for all Council programs and events.
Raquel also serves as the vice-chair for the Association of Meeting Professionals (AMPs) and spent two years as co-chair of the special events committee. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from George Mason University.
