AAU joined six other higher education associations in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona requesting clear and comprehensive information on the department’s plans to resume student loan repayments on February 1, 2022.
AAU President Barbara R. Snyder issued a statement about the House Science Committee's decision today to advance the National Science Foundation for the Future Act (H.R. 2225) and the Department of Energy Science for the Future Act (H.R. 3593).
AAU and 19 other associations wrote to the Education Department to comment on the proposed final rule on borrower defenses to repayment. The letter outlines several concerns and says that as drafted, the proposed rule “would make asserting a successful claim functionally impossible.”
