AAU President Barbara R. Snyder issued a statement about the House Science Committee's decision today to advance the National Science Foundation for the Future Act (H.R. 2225) and the Department of Energy Science for the Future Act (H.R. 3593).
With little time to review the proposed HEA bill and its amendments, we are deeply concerned that the proposed sweeping changes will negatively impact college access and affordability and prove detrimental to the education and training of our future workforce.
At a time when bipartisanship is a rare commodity, this bill affirms the resolve across party and ideological lines to find cures for devastating illnesses and strengthen investment in American research and innovation.
AAU today thanked Senator Durbin for introducing the American Innovation Act, legislation that would help close the nation’s innovation deficit by bolstering funding for several federal research agencies.
