AAU sent a letter to Congress urging passage of final FY22 appropriations and Build Back Better Act provisions important to our nation’s health, economic competitiveness, security, and crucial government-university research partnership.
United for Medical Research, of which AAU is a founding member, sent a letter urging OMB Acting Director Shalanda Young to include an increase of at least $3 billion to the base budget of the National Institutes of Health for FY23.
AAU joined letters led by ACE to thank the House for introducing two VA technical corrections bills. One letter is to Rep. Mike Bost (R-IL) and another letter is to Chairman Mark Takano (D-CA), Rep. David Trone (D-MD), Rep. Mike Levin (D-CA).
Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) is leading a “Dear Colleague” letter urging Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to retain increases to the Pell Grant maximum and expanded Pell eligibility in reconciliation.
AAU joined 75 other higher education associations in sending a letter urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to “preserve critical investments in college affordability and college completion in the final Build Back Better package.”
