Following is a statement by Mary Sue Coleman, president of the
Association of American Universities, on President-elect Trump’s comments on DREAMers.

We appreciate President-elect Trump’s comments today regarding DREAMers – young people who were brought to this country by their families as children. Many of them have never known life outside the United States and are now working hard to earn college degrees. As the President-elect said, this is a situation that calls for a humanitarian approach.

We stand ready to work with the incoming administration as it seeks to implement such an approach, which we hope will permit students to continue their education and contribute to American excellence.
