Barry Toiv is vice president for public affairs for the Association of American Universities, and oversees and coordinates AAU’s public affairs, communications, and media relations activities.
Before joining AAU in 2003, Barry served for seven years at the White House in the administration of President Bill Clinton, as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary to President Clinton, as Senior Advisor to White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, and as Associate Director for Communications at the Office of Management and Budget.
Prior to the White House, Barry was communications director of the House Budget Committee when Panetta chaired the panel, and a press secretary and legislative assistant for Panetta. Subsequently, he was a managing director in the public affairs practice at Burson-Marsteller.
Barry received a B.A. degree from Harvard.
